In Report No. 24-02, Audit of the Hawai‘i State Hospital’s Implementation of the Hawai‘i Information Portal, we found that instead of streamlining payroll processes by providing greater functionality and efficiency, the hospital created an even more labor-intensive system that still relies on the constant flow of paper.

The auditors from Accuity LLP identified three significant deficiencies in internal controls over financial reporting, and three material weaknesses and eight significant deficiencies in internal control over compliance with major federal programs that are required to be reported in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and the Uniform Guidance, respectively.

The auditors from N&K CPAs, Inc. reported no deficiencies in internal control over financial reporting that were considered to be material weaknesses that are required to be reported under Government Auditing Standards. However, the auditors identified two significant deficiencies that are required to be reported under Government Auditing Standards. There were no findings that were considered to be material weaknesses in internal control over compliance in accordance with the Uniform Guidance.
